£1992 awarded to Jo Downs Glass Fusion Sessions

The Barnaby Webber Foundation was delighted to support workshop sessions for vulnerable children with complex medical and health needs to express themselves through art. A series of sessions was funded to encourage children to develop self-confidence, team building skills and to learn new techniques in creativity using glass as an artform.

“Giving young people autonomy to express themselves is always inspiring-I expect that this experience will again remind me of what a privilege teaching is. I am hoping the participants will feel they can push the boundaries, making new visual works of art. It will be a great opportunity to work collaboratively again with a group by showing techniques and glass materials that they ordinarily would not have access to. I am looking forward to facilitating both independent pieces and collaborative work in a thoughtful, personal way which I am hoping will pave the way for offering more group themed workshops in the future.” Ruth Proudfoot-Smith, artist & educator
